An allergist / immunologist (commonly referred to as an allergist) is a physician specially trained to diagnose, treat and manage allergies, asthma and immunologic disorders. These conditions range from the very common to the very rare, spanning all ages and encompassing various organ systems.


Amber M. Patterson, M.D. completed medical school at the University of Toledo College of Medicine, and stayed there for her pediatric residency. She did her allergy/immunology fellowship at The Ohio State University (Wexner Medical Center/Nationwide Children’s). She is double board certified in pediatrics and allergy/immunology.

Since completing her fellowship in 2012, she worked as an Allergist/Immunologist at Nationwide Children’s; along with serving as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics for OSU and as an Affiliate Investigator for the Center for Clinical and Translational Research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Dr. Patterson began her practice at BVMA in August 2015. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
