Education Options

There are many stages of diabetes, so our education team offers a variety of programs tailored to fit your individual needs. Whether you are newly diagnosed or have been managing your illness for years, we have a program for you.

Kristina F. Graham-Fry, MS, RD, LD, CDE is from metro Detroit. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics at Central Michigan University, she taught nutrition and fitness at a weight loss camp in Pennsylvania. Kristina then completed her Dietetic Internship at Bluffton University. Over the past two years she has been working as a Clinical Dietitian and Assistant Director of Dining Services at Marwood Nursing & Rehab in Port Huron, MI as well as completing her Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics at Central Michigan University. Kristina joined the BVMA team in May 2017.

Skills Training     
  Appropriate for:
      Learning to use home glucose meters
      Learning to use insulin injections
      Learning to use pump therapy

Insulin Resistance Education
  Appropriate for:
       History of gestational diabetes
       Family history of diabetes
       Metabolic syndrome
       Overweight and sedentary lifestyle

Gestational Diabetes
  Appropriate for:
      Currently pregnant with diagnosis of 
       diabetes type I or 2
      Abnormal glucose tolerance test while pregnant            
      Previous gestational diabetes
      Previous delivery of infant 9 lbs. or greater

General Diabetes Education
  Appropriate for:
       New diagnosis
       A1c not at goal
       Change in medication

Intensive Insulin Education
  Appropriate for:
       Multiple daily injections
       Insulin pump therapy
       Frequent blood glucose excursions
       Frequent hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
