Clinical Pharmacy

Blanchard Valley Medical Associates proudly implemented Clinical Pharmacy in August 2006 to enhance our patient care and education. Our pharmacy focuses on anticoagulation (managing medications that prevent blood clots), drug therapy for diabetes management, high cholesterol, heart failure and high blood pressure. 

The BVMA Clinical Pharmacy collaborates with area universities in providing educational rotations for pharmacy students.

Katie A. Kahle, Pharm.D., BCPS.earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Findlay in May 2012. Following pharmacy school, Katie completed a post-graduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy practice residency at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay and received a teaching certificate from the University of Findlay. Katie is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist. In addition to Kari, Katie serves as a preceptor for pharmacy students completing rotations at BVMA. She joined the BVMA Clinical Pharmacy team in August 2013.

Catherine L. Meier, Pharm.D. 
began her educational career through her studies at Ohio Northern University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. From there, she attended The Ohio State University; earning a Doctorate of Pharmacy. After finishing at OSU, Catherine completed a Drug Information residency at Ohio Northern University. After residency, Catherine worked for Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan for four years. Her main practice areas there were Dialysis and Emergency Medicine. Before joining our BVMA team, she managed medications for nursing home patients through her position at Institutional Care Pharmacy in Tiffin, Ohio. BVMA has been very fortunate to have Catherine providing excellent patient care since her commencement with us in 2009.

Suzanne M. Surowiec, Pharm.D., BCACP earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from The University of Findlay in May 2013.  Suzie then went on to complete a post-graduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy practice residency at BVMA and received a teaching certificate from Ohio Northern University.  At the completion of her residency, Suzie accepted a shared faculty position at The University of Findlay College of Pharmacy where she serves as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice.  Since July 2013, Suzie has worked at BVMA as a member of the clinical pharmacy team. She is a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist.
